Future of Money Design Competition 2022
This project was created as part of an entry for the 2022 Future of Money design competition. The project was later amongst the 10 selected winners from over 50 entries to receive additional funding and the opportunity to exhibit the project at the London College of Communication. PayDelay is a reimagined buy now pay later checkout interface concept aiming to make Gen Z users reevaluate their purchases by increasing awareness of their outstanding payments and the long-term implications of not paying their debts to avoid the issue of overspending.
The design leverages the geometric simplicity of cubes as a form of information visualisation to visually represent the magnitude of the user’s debt. The aim was to create a more human-centred approach to financial literacy, allowing users to understand the scale of their financial obligations at a glance and reduce mindless purchasing.
The use of different bold colours further enhances the visualisation and creates a stark difference in the interface, redirecting users' focus on reevaluating the purchase and the idea of avoiding impulse buying without thinking through whether the purchase is important.
